          Description

          Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980/1A-001 chronograph

The 5980/1A-001 is the steel Nautilus chronograph that brought a flyback complication into the Nautilus family. Its 40.5 mm case, integrated bracelet and blue-black gradient dial create a watch that is more technical than the time-only references while retaining the recognizable Gerald Genta profile.

          Reference profile

The reference-level profile below reflects published manufacturer specifications for Patek Philippe Nautilus Chronograph 5980/1A-001. Confirm the selected movement grade, external finish and water-resistance testing for the exact build offered here before ordering.

          • Reference: 5980/1A-001.
          • Case: stainless steel, approximately 40.5 mm diameter and 12 mm thickness.
          • Movement: CH 28-520 C self-winding flyback chronograph.
          • Functions: central chronograph seconds, 60-minute counter and date aperture.
          • Dial: blue-black gradient with a small seconds counter and elapsed-time display.
          • Bracelet: integrated stainless steel with a Nautilus fold-over clasp.
          • Power reserve: approximately 55 hours according to published reference data.

          Dial, case and finish

The 5980 uses a single-piece column wheel, disc clutch and date mechanism that can be advanced with the chronograph pushers. During QC, check pusher feel, flyback reset, date advancement, chronograph hand return and the alignment of the 60-minute counter. Inspect the bracelet links, clasp and polished bevels carefully because the integrated Nautilus case leaves few hiding places for uneven finishing.

          Wearing and comparison notes

Compared with the 5711 or 5990, the 5980 is the classic flyback chronograph expression of the Nautilus. It is thicker than a time-only model but visually more integrated than a chronograph on a leather strap. This makes it a strong option for buyers who want a single steel sports watch with genuine timing functionality.

          Ordering and QC

Request timegrapher results, a full chronograph reset and flyback test, date-change photographs and close-ups of the dial, caseback, bracelet and clasp. Confirm the selected grading and any polishing or servicing history before dispatch. Swiss Horova prepares each order with protective packaging and tracked delivery, and support can clarify the movement, finishing, sizing, strap and available QC information before dispatch.

          BUILD GUIDE

          Compare the three build levels

The main differences are power reserve and exterior finishing. Choose the level that matches your priority.

          Japanese movement

          Best value

Reliable everyday performance with an approximate 24-36-hour power reserve.

          • Approx. 24-36-hour power reserve
          • Clean, practical finishing
          • Best for value-focused buyers
          Swiss movement

          More refined

A higher-level option with an approximate 48-72-hour power reserve and improved exterior details.

          • Approx. 48-72-hour power reserve
          • Longer overall power reserve
          • More refined exterior finishing
          • Best balance of performance and detail
          Original appearance

          Top appearance

The highest-level appearance version, made for customers who prioritize visual detail.

          • Top exterior version
          • Highest-level visual detailing
          • Best for appearance-first buyers

Quick guide: Japanese movement is approximately 24-36 hours, while Swiss movement is approximately 48-72 hours, so Swiss delivers a longer power reserve across the range. Original appearance is the top version for exterior finish. Approximate figures may vary by model.
